II. Masters’ International Short Track Sprint in the week between the two Championships. III. 2008 Australian Short Track Championships 03 - 04 Okt 2008. If you would consider to compete in this carnival, please register your interest by emailing Frank Anderson (thenewbordersecurity@aapt.net.au) by the 15th of June 2008. Registering your interest in no way binds you to attending or paying any fee. Closing Games Turnhout/BEL

sd. The 3000m relay closed the MASTER's efforts in Belgium on Saturday April 12th, 2008.

The Master category had been split into two groups: 'Senior B' grouped the 'fastest' athletes skating 50' on 500m, while the 'Veteran' put together those who skate the 500m in about 1 minute. Altogether, there were 20 Masters from 5 Countries: Belgium, Netherlands, France, Denmark and Italy. All skated 2 distances: 1000m in the morning and 500m in the afternoon. In both cases, the best 4 times qualified for Final A while the others proceeded to Final B.

The podium for the Senior B went to the French skater Cédric Kuentz (we remember his participation at the U.S. Olympic Games in long track in 2002) while the Veteran category saw the Danish skater  Lars Øritsland gaining first position.

Next dates for all Short Track Masters' diaries: Leon Quaglia in Chamonix (France) at the beginning of August, Opening Games in Turnhout (Belgium) beginning of October, Danish International at 31 Jan – 1 Feb  2009, Italy International in April 2009 and Closing Games in Turnhout in 2009.

Establishment of an International Masters’ Short Track Committee (IMSTC)

vs. At the 16th Masters’ International Speed Skating Games in Calgary/CAN, 22 – 25 Feb 2007,

Antonio Nitto (IMSSC Member/ITA), Brett Arnason (IMSSC Member/CAN), Urs Dux (SUI), Andrew Love (IMSSC Member/USA) and Dr. Volker Serini (IMSSC Member/GER) discussed about the activities of Masters in their countries in Short Track Speed Skating. They came to the conclusion that it would be desirable to organize not only International Masters’ Speed Skating Competitions, but also International Masters’ Short Track Competitions. Also International Masters’ Short Track Games could be possible. The 5 year age groups should be the same as in International Masters’ Speed Skating Competitions. Because the organization of International Masters’ Short Track Competitions cannot be done additionally by the IMSSC it seems to be necessary to establish an International Masters’ Short Track Committee (IMSTC). Antonio Nitto  is willing to run initially the Office of such an International Masters Short Track Committee and to coordinate the activities. Brett Arnason proposed Ian Mellors as Member for CAN. Urs Dux is ready to be Member for SUI. Andrew Love and Dr. Volker Serini will propose also Members for their countries USA and GER after a discussion in their countries. It should be possible to offer one or several International Masters’ Short Track Competitions for the season 2007/2008.
